Helen Feeney - Acting Head of Department
PE is an extremely popular subject across all year groups. At key stage 3, pupils have 2 x 1 hour lessons and pursue a range of 9 different activities throughout the year which encompass team games and individual activities. At key stage 4, pupils enjoy 1 hour of physical education each week and pupils 'opt' for their chosen activity on a rotation basis. A similar 'opting' system is in place embedded at key stage 5.
The department offers a huge range of extra curricular activities for pupils to explore and participate in and also takes part in the 'Move It' scheme. Borough, county and national sports competitions are experienced by all pupils and in key stages 4 and 5, pupils are provided with opportunities to obtain coaching qualifications in their chosen sport.
PE is successful at GCSE level and also proving popular in KS5 with the introduction of a new AS / A level course.
Members of the department organise and lead trips both at home and abroad on an annual basis that are again accessible and enjoyed by a huge number of pupils at Preston Manor.
