Extra-curricular and Enrichment
There are many opportunities to enjoy activities beyond purely academic study and all students are expected and encouraged to take advantage of these. We believe that participation in this area is vital, and allows for students to develop their leadership, communication and team-working skills. We offer a range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities to support students’ post-16 aspirations (see attached file).
Many students take part in a paired reading scheme where they meet regularly with a younger pupil to support their literacy skills, or act as Peer mentors to younger students. Some of our Sixth Formers arrange to help in a local Residential Home for the Elderly and disabled people, and put on an annual Christmas party. Others support in our Lower School or in after school clubs. We also welcome students taking the initiative in starting up clubs at school or other projects within the local community. Many students are engaged in charity work fund raising and education projects during their time in the Sixth Form.
We also have a diverse range of visiting speakers throughout the year, many of whom are highly successful former students.
As befits a school with a proud musical tradition, many or our sixth-formers are leading players in many of the school’s orchestra, bands and ensembles.
Sixth formers also play a lead role within the student body. They are actively involved in ensuring the smooth running of the school, taking on the positions of Head Boy and Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Head Girl, Prefects, and House Captains.
