Higher Education Programme

All students are guided in making successful applications suited to their interests and academic potential. Almost 100% of our Year 13 students proceed to Higher Education, usually straight after Year 13 but sometimes after a gap year. Our Student Destinations lists (see links below) show our students’ success in gaining places on a range of excellent courses; we successfully prepare our students for access onto highly competitive courses at leading universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial and UCL. We currently have 13 ex-students studying at Oxford and Cambridge Universities in a range of subjects including Medicine, Law, Politics and English. Every year our students gain places on Medicine and Dentistry courses. This is an outstanding achievement and reflects the school’s positive attitudes towards education and achievement.

Our Higher Education Programme includes:

  • Two year Higher Education Preparation Programme for all students
  • Opportunities to take part in residential courses, taster days, in-house workshops and seminars
  • Individual  help with personal statements
  • Targeted university interview preparation with an independent Higher Education Consultant
  • Information sessions on the UCAS applications process, university life and finance
  • Higher Education Evening for parents
  • Targeted work experience opportunities
  • Master classes in a wide range of subjects
  • ‘Centigrade’ higher education selection programme
  • Targeted mentoring of Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine and Dentistry applicants
